Hot Chocolate Recipes
1. Classic Creamy Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
2 cups whole milk (or plant-based milk)
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 tablespoons sugar (or sweetener of choice)
2 ounces dark chocolate (chopped)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Whipped cream or marshmallows (optional)
Instructions:
In a saucepan, whisk together milk, cocoa powder, and sugar over medium heat.
Once warm, add the chopped dark chocolate and stir until melted and smooth.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream or marshmallows.
2. Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
2 cups milk (or almond milk)
1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
Crushed peppermint candy or candy cane for garnish
Instructions:
Heat milk in a saucepan over medium heat until steaming.
Add chocolate chips, cocoa powder, and sugar, whisking until fully melted and combined.
Stir in peppermint extract.
Pour into a mug and top with crushed candy canes or whipped cream.
3. Spiced Mexican Hot Chocolate
Ingredients:
2 cups milk
1/4 cup dark chocolate (chopped)
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
A pinch of salt
Instructions:
In a saucepan, combine milk, cocoa powder, brown sugar, cinnamon, cayenne (if using), and salt. Heat until warm.
Add the dark chocolate and stir until melted and smooth.
Pour into a mug and sprinkle with extra cinnamon if desired.
